Zero hunger
Food security is a priority for SASO, given the high levels of malnutrition and hunger in Salima district. The organization promotes sustainable agriculture by training farmers in modern techniques such as crop diversification, irrigation, and organic farming. These practices increase yields and ensure year-round food availability.
SASO also supports vulnerable households with nutritional programs, particularly targeting children and people living with HIV/AIDS. By combining agricultural interventions with nutrition education, SASO addresses both the supply and demand sides of food security. This dual approach ensures that communities not only produce enough food but also consume balanced diets that promote health and productivity.
Objectives:
- Train farmers in crop diversification, irrigation, and organic farming.
- Support vulnerable households with nutritional programs targeting children and people living with HIV.
- Promote community-based food security initiatives.
- Provide access to improved seed varieties and farming inputs.
- Educate communities on balanced diets and nutrition.
