Education

At Salima HIV/AIDS Support Organization (SASO), we believe that education is the cornerstone of empowerment and community transformation. Our education initiatives are designed to ensure that children, families, and communities understand the critical role schooling plays in breaking cycles of poverty, reducing vulnerability, and building a stronger nation.

Community Sensitization

SASO conducts community sensitization campaigns to highlight the importance of education for all children. These sessions engage parents, guardians, and local leaders, emphasizing that education is not only a right but also a powerful tool for social and economic development. By raising awareness, we foster a culture where families and communities actively support children’s learning journeys.

Provision of Scholastic Materials

Provision of Scholastic Materials

Recognizing that poverty often prevents children from accessing education, SASO provides scholastic materials such as books, pens, uniforms, and other essentials. These resources reduce barriers to school attendance and ensure that children can fully participate in their studies.

Ending Child Marriages and Teen Pregnancies

Through targeted sensitization, SASO addresses harmful practices such as child marriages and teenage pregnancies, which remain major obstacles to girls’ education. We work with families and communities to challenge these norms, advocating for the protection of girls’ rights and their continued access to schooling.

Re-Admission Policy for Girls

SASO actively popularizes the re-admission policy, which allows girls who drop out of school due to pregnancy to return and continue their education. By promoting this policy, we ensure that motherhood does not mark the end of a girl’s educational journey, but rather a chance to rebuild her future with dignity and opportunity.

Strengthening School Governance

Strengthening School Governance

We invest in capacity building for school governance structures such as Mother Groups, School Management Committees, and Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs). These groups play a vital role in monitoring school environments, supporting learners, and advocating for inclusive and safe education. Strengthening these structures ensures accountability, community ownership, and sustainability of education initiatives that benefit the learners.

“Education is the key that unlocks opportunity for every child, and SASO is committed to ensuring no one is left behind”
